Design and Optimization of WWTP through Modeling and Simulation I
ABSTRACT
This paper presents improvements in WWTP Guardamar del Segura (Alicante) in terms of energy saving and quality of treated water after applying the trading strategies analyzed in a simulator operation. The WWTP has been modeled and implemented in the simulation platform WEST. The model has been calibrated and experimentally validated to ensure the predictive capability of the simulator, which was used to diagnose the operating strategies of the plant. In addition, we have simulated different modes of operation more convenient. Experienced satisfactory results WWTP following the implementation of this strategy have demonstrated the potential of simulation tools to support effective in determining the actions needed to optimize operating costs without sacrificing quality of treated water.

Design and Optimization of WWTP through Modeling and Simulation I
The main achievement of this e-learning course is to raise the brand new system of sewage water treatment design through the use of Mathematical Modeling, (Activated Sludge Model No.1, which implements the elimination of organic matter and nitrogen), in a technical and a noticeable practical way. So, the student will be qualified to learn how to diagnose the state of the process, to detect their limitations and explore the ideal strategies of operation in a great variety of settings.
In order to do so, a demo will be held for each student, which contains the Software Commercial WEST® used to handle the already mentioned model.
